Gallagher's Canyon
Gallagher's Canyon is a delightful golf course community, located in South-East Kelowna, 10-15 minutes from downtown Kelowna and shopping. Focus is on "lifestyle living" with two golf courses (the 18 hole championship Canyon course is one of Cannada's top rated courses and the Pinnacle is a lovely challenging 9 hole executive course). There is also a state of the art fitness centre, an indoor pool, billiard tables, pottery and woodworking shops and tennis courts. The demographics ocnsist of a mix of empty nesters, retirees and families.
Homes at Gallagher's Canyon consist of "California style" single family homes and semi-detached townhomes. Many homes are rancher (bungalow) style or ranchers with walkout basements. There are also two storey homes and a few grade level entry homes. Construction is of a high level of quality and most homes have the master suite on the main floor.
Tha community is bordered on two sides by Mission Creek and Scenic Canyon. The Mission Creek greenway walking and biking trail follows Mission Creek from Gallagher's Canyon to Okanagan Lake, a distance of about 15 kilometres. There is also easy access to the Myra Canyon Provincial Park and the famous Kettle Valley Trestles and biking trail. Not far away, up McCulloch Road, is the Kelowna Nordic Ski Club for cross-country skiing in the winter and McCulloch Lake and surrounding lakes for hiking, biking and fishing in the summer.
Other recreational opportunities include Big White Ski Resort for skiing and boarding activities 45 minutes away as well as other Okanagan Ski Resorts, Okanagan Lake and more than 40 golf courses throughout the Okanagan-Shuswap, including the highly rated Harvest Golf Course, only a few minutes down the road. Of course, there are also beach, boating and fishing activities on Okanagan Lake, only 20 minutes away and other Okanagan area lakes, such as Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake.
